The item up for bids is a fabulous vintage 1950s console television salt and pepper shaker set. It is an advertising piece for Ben's T.V. Printed on the television screen in red lettering is BEN'S T.V. & APPLIANCE OUTLET, PA 3-0936, "Buy Name Brands". When the bottom knob on the television set is turned to the right the shakers pop up so they are easier to take out, ingenious! The TV cabinet is a swirled marbleized brown. The legs and trim are an aged gold color. It is signed backwards in the mold on the bottom of the shakers, Made in U.S.A., Pat. Pend. I see these occasionally with blank screens but I've never seen one with advertising before so it might be scarce - have some fun and bid!
Condition
:
The condition is good vintage. There are no breaks, chips, cracks, or repairs. It shows age appropriate handling wear with scuffs, scratches, and dings. There is some spotting/discoloration to the gold trim around the screen. The knob turns the cam shaft and the shakers lift up as designed. The pictures are the best indicator as to condition, please use the zoom feature and check them out.
Dimensions:
It's about 3-1/2" long, about 1-3/4" deep (not including the knob), and about 3" tall.
