1948 Philco model 48-700 tabletop 7” TV in beautiful mahogany veneer wood cabinet.
This rarely found set is complete with the exception of the missing 6" field coil speaker, missing back and AC cord/plug. Cosmetics are very good to excellent overall with some small scratches around the front controls. There's some very small wear to the cabinet over the years but over-all it's a great looking vintage TV. Amptech Systems makes a reproduction back for 0.
The complete chassis looks to be all-original with possibly some very old replacement parts/
repairs and
definitely
has some replacement tubes. I did not test the electronics or any of tubes but did test the RCA 7JP4 picture tube. The face of the picture tube has no scratches.
Sencore CR70 Test: H-K Shorts - Good, G1 Shorts - Good, Cutoff - Good, Emissions - Good and the Life Test is Good as well. I tested the tube on another set that is working and it was plenty bright.
The models 48-700 and 10" 48-1000 were Philco's first postwar TV's. The 48-700 has a 7 inch CRT using a "brute force" power supply. The 2500 volts for the CRT is derived from a power transformer, making it potentially lethal.
I am selling this TV and all its parts as-is, display only, not working, for parts and repair, no returns. The important thing is the chassis is all there with no known missing electronic parts so it is valuable as a true antique or can be restored if desired..
TV measures 14” tall, 21 1/2” wide, 18 5/8” deep and weighs 55 lb.
Box will measure 18” tall, 25” wide, and 23” deep and weigh 62 lb. when packed.
Good, strong packing supplies/boxes including 2” thick hard Styrofoam to line the boxes will cost and FedEx Ground shipping (cheapest/ best handling ground service) will cost .00. There is no charge for my packing labor.
