    Description

Vintage PANASONIC TR-449BA Transistor Portable TV Television 1960s Black & White (solid state) (battery and AC)
Collectors: Get get prepared for something special! TV Significance. This is a very rare working Panasonic Black and White Transistor TV model TR-449ba . This Panasonic TV (Made in Japan) won the Clio advertising award for a television commercial back in the mid 1960's. Sounds like something straight out of AMC's Mad Men! (see description below). The TV was unique and marketed to the public between 1965-and 1971) as being ahead of its time - as Panasonic continued to make in roads with the US buying public.
Condition: The TV turns on and the knobs seem to function properly. You can hear static through the speakers as well in addition to the black and white static channels visible on the screen. The antenna fully extends and the power cable works. The various knobs all turn well and provide different effects. Because this TV uses old TV signals, you will not be able to watch TV programs, and will need an adapter. Please evaluate the photos and condition. There are blemishes and imperfections, but overall they do not detract from the look of the TV. These are very hard to find in this good condition.
It could stand some additional cleaning also - overall in beautiful vintage condition.  Comes with cover for screen which is also hard to find as many were lost.
Panasonic TV Ad Description:An advertisement for Panasonic personal portable televisions in which a man's Panasonic TV is shown as continuing to play even as the fuse blows and the rest of his house loses power. An offscreen male narrator explains how Panasonic portable TVs have batteries that take over automatically when there is no external electricity. The man brings the TV into the basement to act as a light as he resets the fuse box. One of the winners of the 1971 Clio Awards. Thanks for viewing! What a great opportunity for a collector or for anyone interested in vintage electronics!
