LARGE JAPANESE CAKE MOLD KASHIGATA HAND CARVED WOODEN SEA BREAM / 18+ inch 46 cm

Description

A vintage hand carved Japanese wood mold for making a sweet bean paste item for gifts or offerings.
Sea breams were considered lucky, and based on this ones unusual large size this would have been used for an offering or some other special occasion.
It's 18 1/4 inches long, 7 3/4 inches wide,1 3/8 inches thick and weighs just over 3 3/4 pounds.
This was part of a group we bought. One of which is dated on its back August 1935.
That is probably the approximate age for this one.
